3 steps to mastering social media marketing for your business
Stop trying to learn from everyone
As someone who spends a LOT of time nerding out over social media, I know a thing or two about information overload.
While your intention should be to soak up all the information like a sponge…you need to make sure that you’re soaking up the right information. Otherwise your social media is going to start looking like “everything but the kitchen sink” leaving you AND your followers confused. When it comes to information on social media marketing, there’s no shortage. So get rid of that scarcity mindset.
You get to be intentional about who you learn from so before you hit “follow” ask yourself: are they teaching me something I need to know or just something I didn’t know?
While there is no single right way to show up on social media there IS a method that’s right for you. In my coaching, it’s my mission to find that method and then help you implement it in a comprehensive and sustainable way.
Each social media professional has their own way of doing things which are chock-full of opinions, dos and don’ts, and systems. But you can’t possibly implement all of it at once. Imagine if you took a college course being taught by 20 different teachers with different viewpoints, backgrounds, experiences, niches? Confusing right?
2. Choose the right experts for you
Like get reallyyyy picky. When you pick your “mentors”, limit yourself just a few accounts (3-5) at a time.
If you were to ask me right now who I’m “invested” in, I could name a grand total of 3 social media experts within my niche (social media marketing businesses) that I am investing my time and money into.
There is so much value in slowing down, taking a deep breath, and remembering that you choose who you learn from.
Instead of grabbing every freebie you can find, following a bunch of social media accounts, and saving posts you’ll never go back to, ask yourself if each resource will serve your business.
Try one freebie, READ the emails they send after, go to their website. LEARN about them as you learn bout social media. Is it serving you? Is there a service or offer that you’d like to buy from them? We have a total scarcity mindset when it comes to information and we shouldn’t, there is SO much information out there but a shortage of useful and applicable information for you. it’s your job to find it.

3. Take imperfect action
Experience is your greatest teacher and you need to learn to be okay with creating imperfect content.
Okay now i’m about to say some things that might seem opposite of what youve heard.
Unpopular opinion no. 1: You need quantity, not quality.
The quality vs. quantity debate is a hot topic among social media experts and content creators. Most say quality over quantity. But I need to tell you that while your goal is quality, you’re vehicle is quantity. Meaning you need to do something, reflect, do it again, try to get better, and again and again.
Content creation is a muscle and you get better and faster the more you use it. So start showing up, imperfectly and willing to learn.

Unpopular opinion no.2: Edit on the Instagram and Tiktok apps. You’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t edit your content on the apps themselves due to glitches and limited features. I say that’s a thing of the past. These social media apps are changing with updates and improvements all of the time.
Yes, fancy editing apps like Inshot and Splice have loads more editing features than Instagram 3and Tiktok but if you’re just starting out are you really going to need them? Experts will say you shouldn’t edit within the app but they’re…experts. You on the other hand are a badass with beginners grit who is willing to put in the leg work to succeed.
Playing around, creating content, and exploring features on the apps will teach you so much and keep you up to date.
